President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Saturday, October 4, 2025, travel to Jos, the Plateau State capital, for a one-day working visit during which he will attend the funeral prayers of Nana Lydia Yilwatda Goshwe, the late mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Professor Nantewe Yilwatda Goshwe.
The visit, according to a statement issued on Friday, October 3, 2025, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to solidarity and fellowship within the leadership ranks of the ruling party.
The President is expected to join political leaders, dignitaries, and well-wishers from across the country to pay his final respects to the late matriarch, who is being honoured for her contributions to community development and the moral upbringing of her children.
Following the funeral prayers, President Tinubu will proceed to the headquarters of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Jos, where he will address church leaders from across Northern Nigeria. His address is expected to focus on national unity, peacebuilding, and interfaith collaboration as part of the administration’s broader effort to strengthen social cohesion and promote inclusive governance.
The meeting with church leaders comes at a time when the Federal Government is emphasizing the importance of dialogue and partnership with religious institutions in addressing challenges of insecurity, poverty, and national reconciliation.
According to the statement, the President’s engagement in Jos will highlight his administration’s resolve to maintain close ties with both political and faith-based communities, while fostering mutual understanding across Nigeria’s diverse regions and religious groups.
President Tinubu is scheduled to return to Lagos later the same day after concluding his official engagements in Jos.
The Presidency added that the visit reflects the President’s recognition of the role of moral and spiritual leadership in national development and his continued outreach to key stakeholders across the country.
