The Nigerian Army has announced the death of Lieutenant S. Haruna, who passed away on 6 October 2025 following injuries sustained from a domestic incident involving his wife on 22 September 2025.
According to a statement signed by Captain Lawal Bala Muhammad, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations at Headquarters 2 Brigade, Uyo, the officer suffered severe fire burns during the incident and was immediately evacuated to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) for intensive medical care. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
“The Nigerian Army deeply commiserates with the family, colleagues, and friends of the deceased officer and prays for the repose of his soul,” the statement read.
The Army further disclosed that an investigation was launched at the onset of the incident to determine the exact circumstances leading to the tragedy. The findings, it added, will be made public upon the conclusion of the investigation.
Reaffirming its commitment to professionalism, discipline, and accountability, the Nigerian Army appreciated the understanding and support of the general public during this difficult period.
