The Executive Governor of Katsina State, His Excellency Mallam Umar Dikko Radda, has applauded the Nigerian Army for its sacrifices and commitment toward addressing security challenges in Katsina State and across the nation.
In a statement, Acting Director, Army Public Relations Lieut. Col. Appolonia Anele said Governor Radda gave the commendation on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.
The Governor lauded the dedication and professionalism of troops operating in Katsina, noting that their selfless service and resilience have contributed significantly to the restoration of peace and stability in the state. He also expressed appreciation for the consistent support provided by the COAS to troops deployed in the area.
Governor Radda further acknowledged the COAS’s visit to Katsina, during which he interacted with and motivated the troops, boosting their morale and operational efficiency. He reaffirmed the state government’s readiness to collaborate with the Nigerian Army in establishing an additional military unit to further strengthen security architecture in the state.
The Governor also highlighted the strong synergy between the Katsina Community Watch Corps and the Nigerian Army, particularly the 17 Brigade, describing the partnership as crucial in the ongoing fight against criminal elements.
In his response, the COAS, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, appreciated the Governor’s visit and assured that the Nigerian Army remains steadfast in its mission to protect law-abiding citizens and ensure peace across the country.
General Oluyede commended the Katsina State Government and the people for their unwavering support to the Army, urging that the partnership be sustained. He reiterated the Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property while creating the secure environment necessary for economic growth.
