NPF, NCCC holds nationwide awareness campaign to boost digital safety

The Nigeria Police Force and National Cybercrime Centre (NPF–NCCC) has concluded a one-day Cybercrime Awareness Campaign in Abuja, aimed at promoting online safety, digital literacy, and national resilience against cyber threats.

In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja CSP Benjamin Hundeyin said the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), DIG Sadiq Abubakar, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to creating a safer digital environment for all Nigerians.

In his welcome remarks, the Director of NPF–NCCC, CP Uche Ifeanyi Henry, expressed appreciation to partners and stakeholders for their support, noting that the fight against cybercrime demands a unified national effort.
“Today’s digital era requires that Nigerians become not just users but guardians of their own cybersecurity,” he said, adding that the campaign seeks to strengthen public awareness, improve reporting mechanisms, and enhance enforcement capacity.

Over 3,000 participants from schools, government agencies, private institutions, and digital platforms attended the event. Activities included an awareness walk, distribution of educational materials, and a musical fiesta to promote the “Stay Smart, Stay Safe” message in an engaging way.

The campaign underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to safeguarding Nigeria’s digital space and empowering citizens with the knowledge to protect themselves online.
