Osinbajo to lead ECOWAS election observation mission to Côte d’Ivoire

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has appointed former Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, as Head of its Election Observation Mission to the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire ahead of the country’s presidential election scheduled for October 25, 2025.

According to a statement by ECOWAS, the Mission will be deployed from October 19 to 29, 2025, in accordance with the ECOWAS Supplementary Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance.

As Head of Mission, Professor Osinbajo will lead a team of distinguished West African personalities to engage key national stakeholders in Côte d’Ivoire, support efforts toward a peaceful and credible electoral process, and collaborate with other international and domestic observer groups.

The statement emphasized that the deployment of the Observation Mission reaffirms ECOWAS’s steadfast commitment to promoting democracy, peace, and stability across the West African sub-region.
