As Anambra State prepares for the 2025 governorship election, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has assured residents of adequate security and a peaceful atmosphere throughout the voting exercise.
The Commandant General of the Corps, Prof. Ahmed Audi, gave the assurance in a statement issued on Friday through the Deputy Commandant General in charge of Operations, DCG Philip Ayuba.
Audi reaffirmed the Corps’ dual commitment to safeguarding lives and securing Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) while supporting the conduct of a credible and transparent election.
“Our presence at polling stations is to protect, not to interfere,” he stated. “We are there to create an atmosphere where voters feel safe, confident, and free to exercise their civic rights.”
He explained that beyond providing physical security, the NSCDC is also tasked with protecting essential facilities such as electricity, water supply, communication systems, and other public utilities crucial to the integrity of the electoral process.
“The credibility of any election depends not just on the safety of voters, but also on the protection of the systems that sustain it,” Audi added.

He directed officers deployed for election duty to operate with professionalism, neutrality, and full respect for human rights, warning that any act of compromise or political involvement would attract severe disciplinary measures.
The Commandant General also disclosed that the Corps is working closely with the Nigeria Police Force, the Armed Forces, and other agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) to ensure a smooth, transparent, and violence-free election.
Audi urged voters to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative with security personnel, assuring them that their safety and the protection of vital infrastructure remain the Corps’ top priorities.
