Troops of Sector 2, Operation Enduring Peace, have raided a suspected gunrunners’ hideout in Fashoron Village, Daffo District of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State, recovering a cache of arms and ammunition.
In a statement Media Information Officer JTF Operation Enduring Peace Major Samson Nantip Zhakom said the operation, carried out on 13 November 2025 under Operation Peace Shield, was part of ongoing efforts to curb the activities of armed criminals within the Joint Operations Area (JOA). The suspects reportedly fled the scene before troops arrived.
A search of the location led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, a sub-machine gun, two Dane guns, 42 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 84 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and 20 cartridges. Troops also seized six mobile phones and ₦330,000 in cash.
All recovered items are in military custody, while efforts are underway to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The Joint Task Force reiterated its commitment to eliminating criminal elements, particularly those involved in the proliferation of illegal arms, and reaffirmed that it will continue to deploy all legitimate measures to secure the Joint Operations Area.
