Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has celebrated former Minister of Information and Culture, Professor Jerry Gana, on his 80th birthday, describing him as an exceptional statesman whose life embodies integrity, national service, and democratic consolidation.
In a goodwill message marking the milestone and the public presentation of Gana’s new book, “Jerry Gana: Stewardship and Integrity,” the minister said Professor Gana remains one of Nigeria’s most distinguished patriots, whose contributions have left a lasting imprint on governance, public enlightenment, and civic development.
Idris noted that from his early years as an academic to his influential roles in government, Professor Gana has demonstrated “exemplary leadership, deep intellect, and an unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of the nation.”
As Information Minister in previous administrations, Gana, he said, laid enduring foundations that continue to shape Nigeria’s communication and public information architecture.
“The launch of his new book is not only a celebration of his legacy, but also a valuable resource for scholars, policymakers, and young Nigerians seeking models of ethical leadership and responsible stewardship,” Idris stated.
On behalf of the ministry, he congratulated Professor Gana on reaching the landmark age of 80 and prayed for continued health, strength, and peace as the elder statesman witnesses the impact of his decades of service to Nigeria.
“Happy 80th Birthday, Professor Jerry Gana, and congratulations on this remarkable publication,” Idris added.
