Troops of Sector 5, Operation PEACE SHIELD, have successfully rescued 10 kidnapped victims and recovered arms, ammunition, and ransom cash in Kaduna State, marking a major operational success.
The operation followed the abduction of several women from their farms at Ungwan Nungu in Sanga Local Government Area on 29 November 2025. Troops launched an immediate search-and-rescue mission that culminated in decisive contact with the kidnappers at about 6:40 a.m. on 5 December 2025, as they attempted to collect ransom payments from the victims’ relatives.
Confronted with superior firepower, the kidnappers abandoned the hostages and fled into nearby forests. All victims—including one adult male, three male children, three elderly women, and three female children—were rescued unharmed and have since been debriefed and reunited with their families, bringing relief to the traumatised community.
During the operation, troops recovered one fabricated AK-47 rifle, a round of 9mm ammunition, and ₦1,600,000 identified as part of the ransom money.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting citizens, denying criminals any freedom of action, and ensuring that communities across the nation can live and work in peace.
