The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, has urged newly promoted senior officers to serve as mentors to their subordinates while providing strategic guidance in their new roles.
According to Acting Deputy Director, 6 Division Army Public Relations, 5 December 2025 Lt. Col. Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, the call was made on 4 December 2025 during the investiture ceremony of four newly elevated officers at Python Officers’ Mess, Port Harcourt Barracks. Emekah emphasized that their new ranks confer authority, making their guidance representative of the Nigerian Army’s position. He also expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for selecting the officers for promotion from a competitive pool.

In their goodwill messages, Brigadier Generals Abubakar Adamu Bello and Ogbonna Igwe advised the officers to uphold exemplary conduct, noting that their experience and exposure equip them to lead without extensive external guidance, while encouraging them to further contribute to the system.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Brigadier General Obinna Eke, Commander of 46 Engineer Brigade, described the promotion as both a personal achievement and a call to greater service. He pledged continued dedication to the values and standards of the Nigerian Army and acknowledged the mentorship of the GOC in shaping the officers under his command.

Brigadier General Eke also highlighted that the promotions were achieved through collective support, encouragement, and sacrifices of those who have walked the journey with them.
The newly promoted officers included Brigadier General Obinna Eke, Brigadier General Oludele Oyegoke, Colonel Prince Agbai, and Colonel Abdullahi Ahmed.
