The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sealed an illegal mineral processing facility in Rivers State as part of its intensified enforcement drive against unlawful mining and mineral-related activities across the South-South region.
In a statement National Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps CSC Babawale Afolabi, said the action was carried out by the South-South Mining Marshal of the Corps, led by Deputy Superintendent of Corps (DSC) Emmanuel Abiahu, who shut down the premises of Twing Supply Chain Nig. Ltd., located along the Onne–Akwa Ibom Road in Port Harcourt, over alleged violations of the Nigerian Mining Act.
According to the NSCDC, preliminary intelligence reports and investigations revealed that the company was engaged in the purchasing, processing, and dealing in minerals without the full complement of requisite licences and permits as required by law. Additional regulatory infractions were also uncovered during the operation.
As a result, the facility was temporarily sealed to allow for comprehensive investigations, after which appropriate legal action will be taken in line with due process and applicable laws, with the aim of deterring similar illegal activities within the sector.

The Corps advised individuals and corporate entities involved in mineral-related operations to ensure strict compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including the acquisition of relevant licences and permits, before commencing or continuing operations.
The NSCDC, under the leadership of the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing the rule of law, protecting critical national assets, and safeguarding Nigeria’s economic interests. The Corps noted that its actions align with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and efforts to entrench best practices in the mining and mineral processing sector.
The NSCDC further assured the public of its sustained vigilance and continued collaboration with relevant stakeholders to curb illegal activities in the mining sector, particularly across the South-South zone.
