The Office of Abubakar Malami, SAN, has reiterated that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and its legal representatives were duly served with an order of a competent court.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by Mohammed Bello Doka, Special Assistant on Media to Abubakar Malami, the office said that a day after the court order was granted, a court bailiff, Mr. Abiodun Kolawole, attempted to serve the order on the EFCC, but officials of the commission allegedly refused to receive the document. It stressed that such refusal does not invalidate service nor undermine the authority of the court.
The statement further noted that later the same evening, the law firm of Okutepa, SAN, received the court order, thereby establishing that the EFCC had notice and was fully aware of the order.
According to the office, the sequence of events conclusively affirms that the EFCC was properly served in line with due process.
