No arms or terror links found in Malami’s residence, media trial condemned

The Office of Abubakar Malami, SAN, has dismissed persistent media claims alleging the discovery of arms, ammunition, or involvement in terrorism at his residence, describing such reports as false, unverified, and politically motivated.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Mohammed Bello Doka, the office emphasised that no official record, judicial document, or lawful disclosure supports claims linking Malami to terrorism or terror financing. The statement further stressed that Abubakar Malami has not been convicted of any offence, and continued speculative reporting violates his constitutional right to presumption of innocence and due process.

Since his arrest by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday, Malami has reportedly been denied access to his family, legal counsel, and associates, raising concerns over his welfare and constitutionally guaranteed rights. The office also noted the emotional strain placed on his family and staff due to sensationalist reporting.

The statement highlighted Malami’s political profile as a senior member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and a prospective candidate for the Kebbi State governorship in 2027, cautioning that the ongoing narrative carries political undertones.

Malami’s office called on the media to halt trial-by-headlines reporting, to clearly differentiate allegations from facts, and to allow legal processes to proceed without prejudice.
