NASS, NWDC to host North-West development summit in Kaduna

The National Assembly Committees of the Senate and House of Representatives on the North-West Development Commission (NWDC), in collaboration with the Commission, will on January 31, 2026, convene a one-day North-West Stakeholders’ Development Summit in Kaduna State.

The summit, themed “Advancing a Coordinated Regional Development Agenda for North-West Nigeria,” will hold at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Conference Centre, Murtala Muhammad Square, Kaduna, with proceedings scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m.

According to the chairmen of the Senate and House Committees on the NWDC, the summit is aimed at bringing together critical stakeholders from the seven states of the North-West to collectively examine the region’s development challenges and harmonise priorities for sustainable growth.

They noted that the region continues to grapple with interrelated challenges including insecurity, infrastructure deficits, youth unemployment, and social development gaps, stressing that such issues require coordinated and inclusive solutions.

“The North-West faces complex and interconnected challenges that cannot be addressed in silos. This summit provides a platform for frank dialogue, shared ownership, and coordinated action towards sustainable development,” the committees stated.

The programme will feature plenary sessions, technical deliberations, and sector-specific engagements designed to enhance collaboration, improve policy alignment, and support the effective implementation of the Commission’s mandate across the region.

Expected participants include members of the North-West Governors Forum, federal and state government officials, National Assembly members, traditional and religious leaders, development partners, private sector operators, non-governmental and civil society organisations, academics, youth and women groups, as well as representatives of the media.

The committees further explained that resolutions and outcomes from the summit would guide the programmes and interventions of the North-West Development Commission, while also strengthening partnerships among stakeholders committed to the region’s development.

Interested participants are advised to register online via www.nwdc.gov.ng/summit or by scanning the barcode on the official summit invitation. Further enquiries can be directed to contact@nwdc.gov.ng
