UniAbuja warns public against admission and recruitment scams

The University of Abuja has issued a strong warning to the public over the activities of fraudsters falsely claiming to facilitate admission, hostel accommodation and recruitment into the institution in exchange for money or personal favours.

In a disclaimer released by the university management, it said the scammers operate through fake admission letters, cloned websites, fraudulent social media accounts, and deceptive phone calls and messages targeted at unsuspecting candidates, parents, guardians and job seekers.

The university stated unequivocally that all admissions, hostel allocations and recruitment exercises are carried out strictly through approved, transparent and official procedures. It stressed that no individual, agent or third party has been authorised to demand or receive payments or favours on its behalf for any of these services.

Members of the public were advised to disregard such claims and promptly report them to the appropriate authorities. The management warned that anyone who engages with the fraudsters does so at their own risk, adding that the university would not be liable for any losses arising from such dealings.

The university further advised that all enquiries relating to admission, accommodation and employment should be directed to its SERVICOM Unit and the Directorate of Information and University Relations.

According to the statement, the University of Abuja communicates with the public only through its official platforms, including its website, verified social media accounts, official email address and designated phone lines.
