The Kano State Government has disbursed ₦25 million in financial support to the families of four security personnel and a vigilante who lost their lives in the line of duty while combating insecurity in Shanono Local Government Area of the state.
The cheques, valued at ₦5 million each, were presented on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the Headquarters of 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Bukavu Barracks, Kano, on behalf of the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Represented by the Director General, Special Services, Kano State Government House, Major General Sani Mohammed (Rtd), the governor said the gesture was in honour of three Nigerian Army personnel, one Nigerian Air Force personnel, and a vigilante who paid the supreme price between November 2025 and January 2026.

In his remarks, Governor Yusuf said the state would never forget the sacrifices of the fallen heroes, whom he described as “super heroes” who laid down their lives in defence of lives and property. He noted that no amount of compensation could adequately repay their sacrifice, but assured that the state government would continue to prioritise the welfare of serving personnel and the families of the deceased.
The governor also pledged sustained collaboration with security agencies to curb banditry and other criminal activities across Kano State.
In a welcome address, the Commander, 3 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ahmed Tukur, described the support from the state government as a significant morale booster, commending the timely intervention.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Lance Corporal Yusuf Jibril expressed appreciation to Governor Yusuf and other stakeholders involved in the compensation process, assuring that the funds would be used judiciously to support the welfare of the bereaved families.
