The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Audi, has charged officers of the Corps to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and dedication in the protection of Very Important Persons (VIPs).
Audi gave the directive on Wednesday while delivering a keynote address at a three-day VIP leadership and management workshop held at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja.
The intensive workshop brought together state commandants, VIP commanders and armorers from across the federation, as part of efforts to strengthen the Corps’ capacity in VIP protection operations.
The NSCDC boss described the VIP protection mandate, conferred on the Corps by President Bola Tinubu, as a sacred trust that must not be compromised under any circumstances. He warned that his administration would not tolerate misconduct of any kind.
“This administration will sanction any personnel found sabotaging the Corps’ efforts in implementing the VIP mandate,” Audi said. “This responsibility must be carried out to the admiration of the government and Nigerians in order to justify the confidence reposed in us.”

The workshop, organised by the Directorate of Training and Manpower Development, is designed as a strategic intervention to sharpen both the tactical and administrative competencies of senior officers involved in VIP protection.
In his remarks, the Acting Deputy Commandant General, Muktar Lawal, said the training curriculum focuses on strengthening leadership and management skills, improving interdepartmental coordination, and reinforcing professionalism in armory management and operational decision-making.
Audi also stressed the importance of excellence and loyalty in service, commending the VIP National Commander, Deputy Commandant of Corps Anyor Donald, for what he described as exemplary professionalism and dedication. He urged other officers to emulate such qualities in the discharge of their duties.
The event featured goodwill messages from senior officers of the Corps, including Deputy Commandants General Zakari Ibrahim Ningi, fdc; Nnamdi Nwinyi; Pedro Awili Ideba; and Prof. Tyoor Frederick Terhemba, all of whom underscored the need for enhanced accountability and discipline in VIP protection operations nationwide.
