The Executive Director of Nigerian Army Farms and Ranches Limited (NAFARL), Major General Sinyinah Nicodemus, has reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s food security through strategic agricultural initiatives aligned with the Federal Government’s food policy.
Major General Nicodemus stated this on Monday, February 9, 2026, during a one-day study visit by participants of the Strategic Management and Policy Studies Course 8/2025 of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC). The visit formed part of the Centre’s nationwide study tour for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Addressing the participants, the NAFARL Executive Director explained that the study visit, themed “Governance and Economic Policies in a Secured Environment: Nigeria’s Experience,” underscored the critical relationship between security and economic development. He noted that insecurity discourages investment, disrupts economic activities, and diverts limited resources away from development, stressing that sustainable growth can only be achieved in a secure environment.

He further highlighted NAFARL’s mandate to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on food imports through large-scale farming and ranching operations, describing agriculture as a strategic tool not only for economic growth but also for promoting national stability and security.
Earlier, the Team Leader and Consultant for the study tour, Professor Okey Ikechukwu, described the Strategic Management and Policy Studies Course as one of the flagship programmes of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, designed for senior leaders in strategic positions. He urged participants to maximise the visit by drawing practical lessons applicable to real-world policy formulation and leadership responsibilities.
The participants were later taken on a guided tour of NAFARL’s facilities, where they received detailed briefings on the organisation’s operations, achievements, and challenges across its various departments.
The visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph to mark the occasion.
