Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have overrun a major terrorist camp in Kogi State under Operation IGBO IDANU I, dealing what military authorities described as a significant setback to a network linked to Kachalla Ibrahim and Shu’aibu.
The operation targeted a notorious criminal enclave concealed within dense forest terrain marked by riverine obstacles, marshy ground, and fallen trees that restricted movement. Despite the challenging conditions, troops advanced with sustained momentum, pressing deep into the hideout.

The Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, personally led the operation. According to military sources, troops dismounted and advanced on foot to achieve tactical surprise, a manoeuvre that enabled them to penetrate the camp and establish operational dominance. The terrorists reportedly fled upon sighting the advancing forces.
A subsequent sweep of the camp led to the recovery of significant quantities of arms and ammunition, including eight boxes of 7.62 x 54 link ammunition containing 250-round bandoliers each, as well as a box of high-velocity grenades. The military said the seizure has substantially weakened the group’s operational and logistics capacity.

Following the clearance, troops destroyed and set the camp ablaze to prevent its reuse. Security forces have since maintained aggressive patrols and sustained offensive operations in the surrounding area to track fleeing elements and forestall any attempt at regrouping.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, safeguarding communities, and restoring lasting peace and security in the region.
