Nigerian Army orders probe into alleged killing in Ogun

The Headquarters of the 35 Artillery Brigade has confirmed that it is investigating an alleged incident involving a soldier and a labourer at a demolition site in Ogun State, reportedly resulting in a fatality.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Brigade said it had taken cognizance of allegations surrounding the incident, which occurred on February 23, 2026, at Ganic Company, Orile-Imo, along the Sagamu-Abeokuta Expressway.

The Brigade expressed condolences to the family, friends and associates of the deceased, describing the situation as grave and deserving of urgent attention.

It disclosed that a Board of Inquiry has been constituted to carry out a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability, the Brigade assured that the findings of the investigation would be made public upon conclusion.

The statement, signed by Major Idereghi Samuel Akari, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, appealed to members of the public and the media to remain calm while the investigation is ongoing, pledging to provide updates as developments unfold.
