Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a suspected commander of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), Sabastine Odo Odam, in connection with the killing of 11 labourers and five police officers in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The arrest was carried out during an intelligence-led operation on Friday, March 6, in the communities of Eha-Amufu and Umuhu. During the operation, DSS operatives also apprehended Ejike Daniel, a suspected member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Security sources said the arrests followed months of surveillance and investigations into the suspects’ alleged involvement in violent attacks on security formations in the area, including assaults on police stations and the theft of weapons later used in subsequent attacks.
According to the sources, the suspects allegedly confessed to coordinating several attacks, including the February 26 killing of 11 labourers and the murder of five police officers in separate incidents between December 24, 2025, and January 26, 2026.
Residents of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area have reportedly welcomed the arrests, expressing hope that the development will help restore peace and security to communities that have faced repeated violence in recent months.
Both suspects are currently in DSS custody and are expected to be arraigned in court in due course.
