ICPC denies viral claim of Justice Omotosho’s arrest

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has dismissed as false and malicious a video circulating on social media alleging that it arrested and is prosecuting Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, J. Okor Odey, the Commission described the claim as entirely untrue and designed to mislead members of the public.

According to the ICPC, it has neither arrested nor invited Justice Omotosho in connection with any investigation, contrary to claims made in the video.

“The Commission is also not investigating the Honourable Judge as alleged,” the statement clarified.

The anti-corruption agency further explained that it has no mandate to investigate serving judicial officers, noting that it holds the judiciary, including Justice Omotosho, in high regard.

The Commission therefore urged members of the public to disregard the misleading content and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of causing unnecessary public concern or damaging reputations.

ICPC reiterated its commitment to professionalism and due process in the discharge of its statutory mandate and advised the public to rely only on official communications from the Commission for accurate information about its activities.

It also encouraged citizens to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of information circulating on social media before sharing it.
