Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) under Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled attempted terrorist attacks on their positions at Azir Bridge and Banki in Borno State.
According to a statement issued by the Headquarters Joint Task Force, the attacks occurred in the early hours of Friday, 13 March 2026. The terrorists reportedly advanced in large numbers in an attempt to overrun troops’ locations at Azir Bridge in Sector 2 and Banki in Sector 1.
However, vigilant troops swiftly responded with coordinated defensive operations, launching spoiling attacks that disrupted the terrorists’ formations and forced them into disarray.
The statement added that the engagements were reinforced by effective close air support from the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, which played a significant role in repelling the attackers.
Military authorities noted that the failed assaults contradict reports circulating on some online platforms claiming otherwise, emphasizing that troops remain firmly in control of the affected locations.
The Joint Task Force further assured the public that troops continue to dominate the operational environment with high morale and sustained offensive actions against terrorist elements.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to defeating insurgent threats across the theatre of operations and restoring lasting peace and stability to the North-East region.
