NDLEA zonal commander commends Kano command’s anti-drug efforts

The Zonal Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Zone 5, ACGN Muhammad Ajiya, has commended the Kano Strategic Command for its operational effectiveness, personnel management, and sustained drug demand reduction initiatives.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the NDLEA Kano Strategic Command, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, Ajiya gave the commendation during a working visit to the command’s headquarters in Kano on April 8, 2026, where he was received by the Commander of the Kano Strategic Command, CN DY Lawal. The Zonal Commander was accompanied by senior officers, including the Deputy Zonal Commander, CN MR Ahmed.

During the visit, Lawal delivered a comprehensive briefing outlining the structure and activities of the command. He highlighted the roles of various operational units, recent deployments, arrests made, and exhibits recovered. The briefing also detailed the command’s achievements in the first quarter of 2026, with particular emphasis on ongoing drug demand reduction campaigns and community-based rehabilitation programmes.

In his remarks, Ajiya praised the command’s professionalism and operational efficiency, noting its strong performance in law enforcement and evidence management. He further lauded its proactive approach to curbing drug abuse through rehabilitation and public engagement initiatives.

The visit featured an inspection tour of key facilities, including the central exhibit store, holding cells, rehabilitation centre, and clinic, where the Zonal Commander assessed the standard of care and services provided to suspects and individuals undergoing treatment.

The Kano Strategic Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operational momentum, strengthening inter-agency collaboration, and intensifying efforts to eliminate illicit drug activities across Kano and Jigawa States.
