NAF destroys terrorist hideouts in Southern Tumbuns

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has sustained high-tempo air operations against terrorist elements, destroying identified hideouts in the Southern Tumbuns area of Borno State.

The operation, carried out by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, involved a precision air interdiction mission conducted on April 24, 2026, at about 6:50 p.m., targeting Ali Sheriffti, a known terrorist enclave.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the mission was executed based on credible intelligence indicating active terrorist presence in the area.

NAF air assets reportedly conducted a focused surveillance sweep, during which several insurgents were observed moving along concealed tracks. The targets were subsequently trailed to structures hidden under dense vegetation, suggesting deliberate efforts to evade detection.

Following positive identification, the aircraft engaged the identified structures with precision-guided munitions.

“The operation achieved the desired effect, with terrorist structures destroyed, further degrading their capability and restricting their freedom of movement within the area,” the statement said.

The NAF noted that the strike highlights its continued reliance on intelligence-driven and precision-based operations aimed at denying террорист groups safe havens.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the force’s commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, stating that operations would be intensified to ensure national security.

“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to pursue and dismantle terrorist networks with unwavering precision and relentless force, ensuring no enclave remains beyond our reach,” he said.

He added that ongoing operations would be sustained with increased intensity to safeguard the country and its citizens.
