The Borno State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima as its consensus candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was reached during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held on Saturday in Maiduguri. The meeting, described as well-attended by key party figures, was presided over by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.
The resolution followed a motion moved by Governor Zulum, reaffirming the state chapter’s support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket under the APC platform.
Addressing stakeholders, Zulum urged party members to remain united and mobilise support to secure a decisive victory for the APC in the forthcoming elections. He emphasised that sustained cohesion among party leaders remains critical to electoral success.
Reflecting on his administration’s tenure, the governor stated that his government had maintained fairness and inclusiveness among political stakeholders over the past seven years. He also expressed hope for divine guidance in the emergence of a successor who would consolidate on existing achievements.
Zulum further assured that governance would remain his priority, stressing that political activities would not detract from efforts to deliver democratic dividends to the people of Borno State.
The meeting was attended by top party and government officials, including Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur; APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori; State APC Chairman, Bello Ayuba; and Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari.
Also in attendance were serving and former federal and state lawmakers, three former deputy governors, members of the State Executive Council, party executives at state and local government levels, and other senior political appointees, including Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani, and Acting Chief of Staff, Babagana Mustapha Mallumbe.
