Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have escalated offensive operations against terrorist elements in Zamfara State, killing two suspects and recovering arms during coordinated clearance missions across multiple communities.
The military said the operations, conducted in the early hours of May 4, 2026, targeted identified enclaves in Maikwanuga village in Talata Mafara, as well as Aljumma, Gidan Dawa, Magami Didi and Tungar Magaji villages in Maradun.
According to a statement issued by the Joint Task Force (North West), troops made contact with fleeing terrorists in Tungar Magaji, where they engaged them with superior firepower, neutralising two and dispersing others.
A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle believed to have been used by the fleeing suspects.
The military described the operations as part of a sustained campaign to dismantle terrorist hideouts within the Bagega–Sunke forest corridor and restore security to affected communities.
It reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing offensive actions aimed at protecting lives and property, while urging residents to support security agencies with timely and credible intelligence.
