Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North Central under Operation Savannah Shield have rescued two kidnap victims during a security operation in Kwara State.
The victims, identified as Mr. Temitope Samuel, 42, and Mr. Mohammed Sani, 40, were rescued on June 3, 2026, during an aggressive fighting patrol conducted by troops deployed at Patrol Base Babasango.
According to military authorities, the troops were advancing towards Gidan Dogo Ekaa when they encountered the two men, who had reportedly escaped from their kidnappers and were seeking safety. The soldiers immediately secured the victims and evacuated them from the area.
The rescued civilians were subsequently transferred to Patrol Base Babanla, where they are receiving medical attention, psychological support and other welfare assistance.
Military authorities said arrangements are being made to reunite the victims with their families.
The Nigerian Army described the operation as a reflection of its ongoing commitment to combating insecurity and protecting vulnerable communities through sustained intelligence-driven operations under Operation Savannah Shield.
The Army also commended the troops for their professionalism and courage during the mission and urged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information to support ongoing efforts against criminal elements in the region.
