A joint security operation involving the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has led to the arrest of 46 suspected illegal immigrants in Ogun State.
In a statement Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 35 Artillery Brigade Major Idereghi Samuel Akari said the suspects were apprehended during a targeted operation that commenced on June 11, 2026, following credible intelligence reports on the activities of undocumented foreign nationals in parts of the state.
According to military authorities, the operation was conducted in Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu Ilese and neighbouring communities, where security operatives arrested the suspects at various locations.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the individuals had allegedly been residing in Ogun State for approximately six months without valid immigration documents.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly identified themselves as merchants and workers associated with QNet, an online marketing platform involved in the distribution and sale of various products.
A breakdown of those arrested showed that 18 are nationals of Burkina Faso, 23 are from Côte d’Ivoire, four are citizens of Togo, while one suspect is from Senegal. The group comprises 36 males and 10 females.

The suspects have since been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Ogun State Command, for further investigation and appropriate action in line with existing immigration laws and regulations.
Commenting on the operation, the Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Friday Oguche Onu, commended the troops and collaborating security agencies for their professionalism, vigilance and effective coordination.
He also urged members of the public to remain alert and promptly report suspicious persons, activities or movements to relevant security agencies to enhance public safety.
Military authorities said the operation reflects the continued commitment of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to combating illegal migration, strengthening internal security and protecting Nigeria’s national interests.
