The Nigerian Army has intensified efforts to strengthen its training infrastructure as part of measures to enhance the combat effectiveness and operational readiness of its personnel in support of national security.
In a statement, Acting Director Army Public Relations Colonel Appolonia Anele said as part of the initiative, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Tuesday commissioned newly constructed training facilities at the 3 Division Training School and Shooting Range in Miango, Plateau State.
Speaking during the inauguration of newly completed hostel blocks at the training institution, the COAS said the facilities would significantly improve the quality of training for both officers and soldiers by providing a conducive environment for learning, professional development and military instruction.
He stressed that training remains the foundation of the Nigerian Army’s operational effectiveness, adding that a modern and enabling learning environment is critical to producing highly skilled, disciplined and mission-ready personnel capable of addressing evolving security threats across the country.

Lieutenant General Shaibu reaffirmed his command philosophy, anchored on the “Soldier First Concept,” noting that sustained investment in the welfare and professional development of personnel is essential to building a motivated, resilient and combat-ready force.
The Army Chief also commended the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, for initiating the project and ensuring prudent management of resources.
He described the new facilities as a demonstration of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to strengthening its institutional capacity to effectively discharge its constitutional responsibility of safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security.
The commissioning forms part of the Nigerian Army’s broader drive to modernise its training institutions and improve operational preparedness amid the country’s evolving security challenges.
