The Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-nominating Vice President Kashim Shettima as the All Progressives Congress (APC) vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, describing the move as a reward for loyalty, commitment and steadfast service.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the group’s National Chairman, Isaac Abrak, said the President’s decision reflects a leadership style that recognises faithfulness, sacrifice and dedication.
According to the NCYP, Shettima remained unwavering in his support for Tinubu from the build-up to the 2023 presidential election through the implementation of the administration’s policies, despite sustained political pressure and public criticism.
The group noted that the Vice President endured personal and political attacks and lost key political allies while defending the administration, yet remained loyal to the President.
Drawing inspiration from Christian teachings, the organisation cited 1 Corinthians 4:2, which emphasises faithfulness in stewardship, and compared Shettima’s political journey to the biblical account of Joseph, whose integrity and loyalty ultimately earned him elevation in Egypt.
The NCYP said Tinubu’s decision to retain Shettima on the APC ticket demonstrates the virtue of rewarding loyalty and would strengthen confidence and trust within the administration.
The group also reaffirmed its support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket ahead of the 2027 presidential election, pledging to mobilise even greater support than it did during the 2023 campaign.
It further offered prayers for divine wisdom and guidance for both leaders, expressing optimism that the Tinubu-Shettima ticket would secure victory in the 2027 presidential election.
