The Borno State Government is actively supporting both kinetic and non-kinetic operations aimed at swiftly restoring peace in the region. Governor Zulum has pledged continued support for Operation Hadin Kai. Major General Peter Malla, the General Officer Commanding 7 Division Maiduguri, representing the Theatre Command “Operation Hadin Kai,” emphasized the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to decisively end the Boko Haram insurgency and ensure a rapid return to peace in the state.
Gen. Malla also expressed deep gratitude to Governor Zulum for his unwavering support for the officers and personnel of Operation Hadin Kai and sister security agencies in the state. The governor had made significant contributions, including a donation of ₦10 million to wounded soldiers and the provision of operational vehicles and motorcycles to facilitate logistics for the command.
These statements were made during a courtesy call by the Hon. Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman A. Tar, and his delegation to the OHK headquarters in Maiduguri on November 2, 2023. The visit aimed to communicate several key objectives:
To inform the GOC about the establishment and remodeling of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Information, and Culture to the Ministry of Information and Internal Security, with a focus on security and related matters.
To reaffirm the Borno state government’s commitment to continuously support the Theatre command.
To request inter-agency collaboration to enhance security, peace-building, and development in the state.
In response, General Malla praised Governor Zulum’s strategic move in creating the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security and affirmed the readiness of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to collaborate closely with the state government in ending the Boko Haram insurgency and restoring peace and security. He particularly highlighted the armed forces’ commitment to supporting the Borno Model for Managing the Mass Exit of Defectors, an inter-agency platform for receiving, processing, rehabilitating, and reintegrating defectors into their ancestral communities.
The occasion also included the signing of the Visitors Book, exchange of souvenirs, and a group photograph.
