FRSC promotes 7,472 personnel

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has approved the promotion of 7,472 personnel comprising 2,134 officers and 5,338 marshals in a move aimed at rewarding merit, strengthening professionalism and enhancing the Corps’ operational capacity.

The promotion is part of the FRSC’s ongoing human capital development programme and recognises personnel who have demonstrated competence, discipline, dedication and commitment in the discharge of their duties.

The Corps said the elevation goes beyond a change in rank, describing it as a renewed responsibility for the affected personnel to uphold higher standards of professionalism and deliver improved services to the Nigerian motoring public.

Under the new arrangement, Heads of Departments, Corps Officers, Heads of Special Units and Commanding Officers are to decorate the newly promoted personnel under their respective commands between Wednesday, August 26 and Friday, August 28, 2026.

The exercise is to be conducted in line with the FRSC Administrative Instruction on the Decoration of Newly Promoted Officers and Marshals.

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, mni, described the promotion as both a reward for past performance and a call to greater responsibility, urging the beneficiaries to translate their new ranks into improved leadership, accountability and service delivery.

Mohammed congratulated the promoted personnel and charged them to justify the confidence placed in them by the Corps, the Federal Government and the Nigerian people.

He stressed that the effectiveness of the FRSC depends not only on patrol vehicles, technology and enforcement systems but also on the quality, character and commitment of its personnel.

According to him, every additional stripe, pip or insignia comes with increased expectations, requiring officers and marshals to demonstrate discipline, integrity and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

He further urged the newly promoted personnel to treat members of the public with dignity, uphold the integrity of the Corps and remain committed to efforts aimed at reducing road traffic crashes and improving compliance with traffic regulations.

The promotion comes as the FRSC intensifies its operational, technological and public enlightenment initiatives aimed at improving road safety nationwide.

The Corps said a motivated and professionally developed workforce remains central to sustaining these interventions and achieving measurable improvements in road safety outcomes.

The newly promoted personnel are expected to assume their new responsibilities with renewed commitment and contribute to the Corps’ mandate of ensuring safer roads for all Nigerians.
