Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 12 kidnapped civilians and foiled an attempted abduction by terrorists in separate operations across Kaura Namoda and Tsafe Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.
The Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed the operations in a statement. He said the operations, conducted on September 7, 2026, further intensified military efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and protect civilians across the Joint Operations Area.
In Kaura Namoda, troops responded to a distress call after terrorists infiltrated a residence at Tsohon Tasha and abducted six civilians.
The troops engaged the attackers in a firefight, forcing them to abandon their victims and flee across a nearby river.
The six rescued civilians were subsequently evacuated and reunited with their families.
In a separate operation in Tsafe Local Government Area, troops conducting surveillance along the Main Supply Route observed terrorists attempting to intercept a Sharon vehicle at Kwanoni Village.
The troops immediately mobilised to the location and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abort the attack and retreat into the adjoining bush.
Six civilians were subsequently rescued from the area.
The military said the operations underscored the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protecting lives and property while denying terrorists freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
The task force also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist elements and restore peace across the region.
