Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested three suspected terrorist logistics couriers and rescued 14 kidnapped victims during separate operations in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The military said the suspects were intercepted on September 24, 2026, while travelling on a motorcycle in the area.
Preliminary interrogation showed that the trio were allegedly transporting ₦2.7 million, suspected to be ransom proceeds, and three mobile phones for onward delivery to a terrorist kingpin through intermediaries in the area.
The suspects and recovered items have been taken into military custody for further investigation.
In another operation on September 25, troops of Sector 2, acting on credible intelligence on terrorist movements in Faskari, mounted an ambush and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to flee.
A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, 30 rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle.
Also on September 25, troops on routine patrol intercepted and rescued 14 kidnapped victims comprising 12 males and two females.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the victims had been abducted from Anguwan Miko and Tafoki communities in Faskari Local Government Area.
The victims were reportedly abandoned by their abductors after the terrorists sighted the advancing troops. The rescued victims were later handed over to the Faskari Local Government authorities for further necessary action.
The Theatre Command said the operations underscored the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protecting lives and property, rescuing persons held captive and restricting the freedom of action of terrorists and other criminal elements across the Joint Operations Area.
The command commended the troops for their vigilance, courage and prompt response, while urging residents to continue providing timely and credible information on suspicious movements and activities in their communities.
