Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), have neutralised a terrorist, recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition, and rescued six kidnap victims in separate operations in Sokoto and Zamfara states.
In a statement, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA Lieut. Col. Aliyu Danja said the operations were conducted on Saturday, September 26, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and protect communities across the North-West.
In Sokoto State, troops of Sector 2 acted on credible intelligence about the presence of a suspected terrorist camp in Gudu Local Government Area.
The troops swiftly moved to the location, where they encountered an isolated terrorist and neutralised him.
Items recovered from the operation included an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a foreign military uniform, tools and clothing, according to the Joint Task Force.
In Zamfara State, troops of Sector 2 responded to information about an attempted abduction of members of the Sarkin Samari’s family in Tsafe Local Government Area later the same day.
The troops arrived at the scene and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to withdraw into nearby bushes.
During the operation, six kidnap victims were rescued and taken to a safe location pending their reunification with their families.
The Joint Task Force said the operations demonstrated the determination and professionalism of troops in protecting lives and property across the North-West.
It urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information on the activities of terrorists and other criminal elements in their communities to support ongoing security operations.
