In Ibadan, the Oyo State Police Command conducted a public presentation on Friday, revealing the apprehension of a 45-year-old individual identified as Hassan Kolawole, suspected of engaging in ritualistic activities. The arrest took place at the Command Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, where Kolawole was exhibited alongside nine other individuals apprehended for various offenses across different locations in the Ibadan Northwest local government area.
Commissioner of Police, Adebola Hamzat, conveyed the details of the arrest through Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, citing the apprehension date as Monday, November 6, 2023. Among the items discovered in Kolawole’s possession were a freshly severed human head, two hands, and an HP laptop.
According to the police report, the suspect was taken into custody at Ogbere-ti-o-ya in the Ona Ara local government area. In a media interview, Kolawole admitted to the charges, asserting that the severed human head and hands were intended for ritualistic purposes due to the financial hardships he was facing.
Detailing the circumstances leading to his arrest, Kolawole disclosed, “I have one wife and two children, and it is very challenging for me to provide for them. I encountered a fellow named Waheed, an Islamic cleric, at a Maolud event. During our conversation, he revealed his knowledge of performing money rituals involving the use of human body parts.”
Kolawole continued, “Expressing my lack of knowledge in obtaining such parts, Waheed assured me of obtaining them on my behalf. Subsequently, he delivered the human parts – a fresh head and two hands – to me at Amuloko, where we met early in the morning. I stored them in my office, a space where I attended to individuals seeking spiritual assistance.”
The suspect added that the person who supplied him with the human parts is presently evading authorities. The Oyo Police Command remains committed to further investigations to unravel the full extent of the circumstances surrounding this alarming incident.
