The Makurdi Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has effected the apprehension of five individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud within the confines of the Makurdi metropolis, Benue State.
This operation, carried out by EFCC operatives, transpired on Thursday, November 23, 2023, following meticulous intelligence gathering on the alleged involvement of the apprehended individuals in cyber-related offenses.
The arrested individuals are identified as Stanley Tochukwu, Desmond Tochukwu, Dennis Emeka, George Ebuka, and Arinze Odo. Subsequent to their apprehension, various items were confiscated from the suspects, including mobile phones, a power bank, ATM cards, and a sum of cash.
Upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations, the EFCC intends to proceed with filing charges against the aforementioned suspects in a court of law. This development underscores the commitment of the EFCC in combating cybercrime and upholding the principles of justice within the jurisdiction.
