The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., mni, hosted the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR, and senior military officers at the Nigeria Police Force’s headquarters, Louis Edet House, on Thursday, in a bid to fortify the collaboration between the police and military for enhanced national security.
According to Force Public Relations Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa AdejobiGeneral Musa congratulated the IGP on his appointment and confirmed the recent confirmation of his position. While commending the gallantry of the Police Mobile Force during joint operations in troubled areas, he expressed concern over the regrettable attack on the Adamawa State Police Command by some soldiers. Assuring a comprehensive investigation into the incident, General Musa urged all security agencies to undertake a reorientation drive for personnel to foster a more harmonious working relationship. Additionally, he advocated for joint training sessions for lower cadres of both the Armed Forces and the Police to cultivate rapport and cooperation.

In response, the IGP extended congratulations to the CDS on his well-deserved confirmation. He emphasized the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to foster improved synergy among all security agencies for more effective security management. The IGP expressed satisfaction with the ongoing investigation into the Adamawa incident and conveyed optimism that the process would be thorough and transparent, preventing a recurrence.
The IGP welcomed the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Barr. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, and her team, along with the Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Prof. Fatima Waziri-Azi, Ph.D. Discussions during the meeting centered on issues related to gender sensitivity and inclusiveness.
The IGP assured the attendees of enhanced collaboration with all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to bolster the policing architecture in Nigeria. He highlighted the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to fostering a healthier partnership, particularly in the areas of data collection and support on the transfer of gender-sensitive cases and those involving human trafficking. The IGP expressed confidence that a more harmonious relationship would lead to increased responsibility and improved overall security for the nation.
