Speaker Abbas expresses condemnation over recent killings in Plateau

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen has strongly denounced the recent spate of attacks on communities within Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State that occurred on Christmas Eve.

In an official statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Musa Abdullahi Krishi Speaker Abbas characterized the assaults as both barbaric and heinous, expressing deep concern over the significant loss of lives, particularly during the holiday season.

The Speaker underscored the disturbing trend of violence perpetrated by gunmen, bandits, and other criminal elements targeting innocent Nigerians. He emphasized the urgent need for security and intelligence agencies to take proactive measures to prevent further loss of lives and property not only on the Plateau but also in other regions of the country.

In his call to action, Speaker Abbas urged law enforcement agencies to identify, apprehend, and prosecute the individuals responsible for these reprehensible acts. “Nigeria has witnessed far too many instances of loss of lives and property due to such attacks, and this alarming trend must be halted immediately,” stated Speaker Abbas.

Expressing solidarity with the affected communities, the Speaker extended heartfelt condolences to the people and the Government of Plateau State. He offered prayers for the repose of the souls of the deceased and sought comfort for their grieving families.
