The Headquarters of the 14 Brigade has expressed serious concern over the recent report by Sahara Reporters, circulating online, highlighting the grievances of soldiers and their family members regarding the lack of water for cooking during the yuletide season at the 14 Brigade Ohafia Barracks in Abia State.
In an official statement Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Lieutenant Omale Innocent Prince said the Brigade wishes to officially acknowledge that the issue of water reticulation in the mentioned barracks has indeed presented challenges. Previous attempts have been made to mitigate the impact on the living conditions of soldiers and their families.
It is pertinent to note that since the assumption of office by the current Brigade Commander, there has been a proactive commitment to address the problem of faulty boreholes within the barracks. Under his diligent leadership, several defective boreholes have been repaired to ensure a relatively stable water supply to the barracks. Moreover, the duration of power supply has been extended through the utilization of generating sets to support water pumping, thereby further enhancing living conditions for soldiers and their families.
These initiatives underscore the Brigade’s unwavering dedication to prioritizing the welfare and well-being of its personnel and their families. Ongoing efforts are currently in progress to enhance water availability and other essential amenities within the barracks. The Brigade remains steadfast in its determination to ensure that the living conditions at 14 Brigade Ohafia are convenient and comfortable for both soldiers and their family members.
