In a strategic move to bolster the music industry in Edo State, Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki threw his support behind the homecoming concert of Crown Uzama, the burgeoning musical sensation widely recognized as Shallipopi. The event, orchestrated by Adozi Empire Limited and Banksx Entertainment in collaboration with EdoFEST and the Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Diaspora Affairs, marked a significant milestone for the State’s cultural scene.
Teaming up with additional partners such as Dapper Live and Engraced Events and Entertainment, the concert, held in Benin City, has been heralded as one of the most substantial music gatherings in recent memory. The organizing entities, comprising Adozi Empire, Banksx Entertainment, and Engraced Events and Entertainment, were granted an audience with Governor Obaseki at the Government House Lodge, cementing the collaborative efforts behind the event.
During the Homecoming concert, Governor Obaseki underscored the pivotal role of Edo’s youth in propelling Africa’s creative prowess. He emphasized the necessity for platforms that provide avenues for young talents in the state to showcase their inherent skills, envisioning a dynamic and prosperous future for Edo’s cultural landscape.
Affirming Edo’s resurgence as a hub for top-tier artists, Governor Obaseki praised Shallipopi’s accomplishments as a source of inspiration for emerging artists within the state. He stressed the untapped potential flourishing in the streets of Edo and encouraged local talents to pursue their dreams without relocating.
Governor Obaseki articulated, “I want to let young people know that Edo is back, and they do not have to leave Edo to access the best in the world. Some of the finest artists in Nigeria and Africa hail from Edo. Shallipopi, perhaps Nigeria’s number one artist today, is a testament to that. Imagine how many more Shallipopis are out here in the streets of Edo. So, tonight, he serves as an inspiration to encourage a lot of young people in Edo, making them aware that they too can achieve success.”
