In a bid to streamline government expenditure, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken decisive measures to cut down the numb

er of individuals accompanying him on both domestic and international trips by 60 percent. This strategic move, aimed at reducing the overall cost of governance, was disclosed by the Special Adviser on Media, Ajuri Ngelale.

  to the new directive, which also extends to Vice President Kashim Shettima and the First Lady, only 20 individuals will accompany President Tinubu on foreign trips. Meanwhile, the entourage for the Vice President and the First Lady will be limited to five individuals each during international visits.

For domestic travels, the President’s entourage will be restricted to 25 individuals, with the Vice President and First Lady being accompanied by 15 and 10 individuals, respectively.

President Tinubu further emphasized a substantial reduction in his security personnel during visits to various states within Nigeria. In such instances, the security apparatus of the visited states will assume responsibility for the President’s personal security. The directive, intended to foster a more efficient and cost-effective approach to official trips, underscores the President’s commitment to prudent financial management.

To enforce compliance, President Tinubu issued a stern warning, stating that any minister or public servant found in violation of these directives will face appropriate sanctions. The announcement reflects a proactive step by the administration to ensure fiscal responsibility and promote accountability within the government’s operational framework.
