Tinubu reaffirms commitment to addressing South-South Monarchs’ concerns

In a crucial meeting held at the State House on Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu assured traditional rulers from the South-South geopolitical zone that his administration is dedicated to tackling their concerns regarding development and environmental degradation.

Led by His Royal Majesty, Major-General Felix Mujakperuo (Rtd), Chairman of the Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers and Vice-Chairman of the South-South Monarchs Forum, the delegation engaged in discussions with President Tinubu. During the meeting, the President conveyed his commitment to addressing the pressing issues faced by the traditional rulers.

President Tinubu emphasized the comprehensive efforts being undertaken by his administration, both domestically and internationally, to enhance Nigeria’s resilience in the face of climate change, environmental restoration, and infrastructure development. He underscored the importance of maintaining security and stability in the region throughout these initiatives.

Commending the South-South Monarchs Forum for their understanding approach to ongoing economic reforms, particularly the removal of the fuel subsidy, President Tinubu assured that the Nigerian populace would soon reap the benefits of these tough but necessary decisions.

“We are actively working to rejuvenate the economy from the damage of several years. We seek your support, prayers, and understanding,” stated President Tinubu. Addressing the traditional rulers, he acknowledged their vital role in providing intelligence for the holistic development of the country.

Expressing gratitude for the Vice-Chairman’s previous service in an organization emphasizing the need for intelligence, President Tinubu affirmed the traditional institution’s significance in contributing to the peace and stability of the nation.

“I encourage you to continue upholding us in your prayers and guiding our youths to maintain faith in the country. The light is already visible at the end of the tunnel,” President Tinubu concluded, pledging to address each concern raised by the traditional rulers individually. He extended an open invitation for them to reach out to his office whenever necessary, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to a collaborative and consultative approach.
