Again, police neutralize notorious kidnappers and gunrunners, recovers arms in coordinated operation

In a significant development within the ongoing campaign to combat crime and uphold internal security, the Force Intelligence Bureau-Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force has reached a noteworthy milestone. This achievement serves as a testament to the persistent determination to eradicate criminal elements from the nation, particularly those involved in kidnapping.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters in Abuja, a meticulously planned operation led by IRT operatives on February 8, 2024, culminated in the neutralization of a notorious group of kidnappers and gunrunners. These individuals had sown fear and disorder across communities spanning Abuja, Kaduna, Kogi, and Nasarawa states. The operation was executed at their concealed location near Gitata, along the Keffi Gidan Wire Road in Nasarawa State.

Adejobi disclosed that the successful operation resulted in the recovery of four AK47 rifles, alongside various other lethal weapons and a substantial cache of ammunition. Furthermore, it was uncovered that the neutralized individuals were actively engaged in the illicit trade of supplying arms to bandits operating within the same geographic region.

He emphasized that this decisive action, executed during the early hours of Thursday, epitomizes the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to safeguarding the lives and properties of all citizens. Adejobi reassured the public of the police force’s steadfast dedication to employing all necessary measures to cleanse communities of criminal elements and maintain peace and order nationwide.
