EFCC arrests 30 suspected internet fraudsters in Delta

Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 30 individuals suspected of engaging in internet-related fraud in Asaba, Delta State. The arrests took place on Friday, March 14, 2025, following credible intelligence regarding their alleged criminal activities.

According to a statement from the EFCC, the operation was part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to combat cybercrime and financial fraud across the country. The suspects were apprehended at various locations in Asaba after weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering.

During the operation, EFCC operatives recovered five luxury vehicles and several mobile phones believed to have been used in the execution of fraudulent activities. The recovered items are currently in the custody of the commission as part of the evidence for prosecution.

An EFCC spokesperson confirmed that the suspects are cooperating with investigators and providing useful information. “We remain committed to rooting out internet fraud and ensuring that those involved are held accountable under the law,” the spokesperson stated.

The commission added that the suspects will be charged to court once investigations are concluded. The EFCC urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious financial activities to the authorities.
