Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested forty-six (46) suspected internet fraudsters in Awka metropolis, Anambra State.
The suspects were apprehended during a sting operation conducted in the early hours of Friday, May 24, 2024, following credible intelligence linking them to cybercrime activities in the state.
During the operation, the EFCC operatives seized several items from the suspects, including mobile phones, six laptops, and six exotic cars. These items are believed to have been used in the execution of fraudulent activities.
The EFCC stated that the suspects are currently providing confessional statements, and will face charges in court once investigations are concluded. This operation is part of the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to combat internet fraud and cybercrime across Nigeria, aiming to bring perpetrators to justice and deter future crimes.
