ELFON urges Tinubu to seek public opinion on government performance

The Emerging Leaders Forum of Nigeria (ELFON) has called on President Bola Tinubu to seek public feedback on his administration’s performance rather than relying solely on ministerial briefings. According to the group, led by Godstime Chukwubuikem Samuel, only six ministers have met expectations in the past year.

“President Tinubu should engage Nigerians directly for an unbiased assessment of his administration’s performance,” Samuel stated. He criticized the ministerial briefings as self-serving and inadequate for a genuine evaluation.

ELFON highlighted the following ministers as standout performers based on their research:

  • Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo
  • Minister of Works, David Umahi
  • Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle
  • Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike
  • Minister of Health, Muhammad Ali Pate
  • Minister of Niger Delta, Abubakar Momoh

The group noted that while 35 percent of the ministers have performed fairly, a significant portion, about 50 percent, have yet to fully grasp their roles.

In light of these findings, ELFON emphasized the importance of seeking comprehensive feedback from Nigerians across all 774 local government areas to ensure an accurate measure of the administration’s effectiveness.
