In response to the prevailing global security challenges, with particular concern for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Acting Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has issued a fervent appeal for adherence to the rule of law and the promotion of peace in all social interactions. The Inspector-General implores individuals to desist from actions or statements that might undermine the existing tranquility within the beloved nation of Nigeria.
In an official statement, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the Inspector-General of Police emphasized this imperative while addressing mobile policemen, operatives of the Department of Force Intelligence, Zonal and State Departments of Intelligence, and personnel stationed at various diplomatic missions and facilities. He underscored the necessity for their state of readiness in upholding law and order, placing special emphasis on the safeguarding of lives and property within the nation.
The IGP has assigned the responsibility to Commissioners of Police and their supervisory Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to maintain a heightened state of preparedness among all personnel under their command. This measure is vital to ensure the safety and security of local communities.
He also extends an earnest call to all citizens and residents of Nigeria to refrain from engaging in sentiments that might inflame tensions and disrupt the harmonious coexistence of communities. He reaffirms the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police in swiftly addressing any activities that may encroach upon the fundamental rights of all individuals.
