The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing Nigeria’s energy sector through strategic partnerships and high-level engagements on the second day of CERAWeek in Houston, Texas.
The company’s participation aligned with this year’s theme, “Multidimensional Energy Transition: Markets, Climate, Technology, and Geopolitics.”
The Nigerian delegation was led by the Minister of State for Gas, Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, and included NNPC Ltd.’s Executive Vice President (EVP) Gas, Olalekan Ogunleye, EVP Upstream, Udy Ntia, and other senior management officials. Their agenda focused on strengthening international cooperation and exploring innovative solutions to enhance Nigeria’s energy production and sustainability.
A key highlight of the day was a strategic meeting with leaders from Chevron, where discussions centered on deepening collaboration in upstream operations, gas development, and energy transition initiatives. The meeting underscored the mutual interest in expanding production capacity and optimizing operational efficiency through shared expertise and technological innovation.

The Nigerian team also engaged with a delegation from the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Energy Resources, led by the U.S. Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright. Secretary Wright reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting Nigeria’s energy ambitions, emphasizing the importance of stable and secure energy markets. He highlighted the strategic value of U.S.-Nigeria cooperation in addressing global energy challenges and driving sustainable development.
The discussions covered a broad range of issues, including energy security, climate resilience, and the integration of advanced technologies into Nigeria’s energy infrastructure. The meeting reinforced the shared vision of enhancing Nigeria’s energy production capacity while adhering to global sustainability standards.
